The Traditional Events on 17 August

Indonesia's Independence Day celebrated every year on August 17. Celebration of Independence Day is commonly held by a flag ceremony at the state palace, at schools, in every county region, even every district did not want to miss this ceremony. Another objective was to commemorate the struggle of the people of Indonesia in achieving independence. At that time, August 17, 1945, Ir. Sukarno, Indonesia's first president read aloud the text of the proclamation. Bellow are The text of the proclamation :


It means : 
We the people of Indonesia hereby declare the independence of Indonesia.
Matters which the transfer of power, etc., held thorough manner and within the shortest possible time.

If the first of Indonesia's independence proclamation marked by a declaration which was read by Bung Karno, then we as the youth of the nation should celebrate this great day in many ways. One of them participated in various activities of the race. Yes, the tradition of the race is often still preserved to this day. However, for this year, because the day of 17 August, Muslims still in Ramadhan month, I hope it doesn't  become a barrier to participating in the anniversary of our Independence ... Here I will discuss the traditions that are still preserved in the race every year in August 17 ​​event ...


Panjat Pinang - Climbing Nut
A nut tree height and trunk are covered by the lubricant was prepared by the race committee. At the top of the tree, put up a variety of prizes. The participants competed for prizes by way of climbing the tree trunk.
Because of the slippery tree trunks (having been given a lubricant), the tree climbers often falls. Sense and cooperation of the participants to climb a tree trunk is what usually overcame slippery tree trunks, and become a tourist draw for the audience.



Tarik Tambang - Tug of War
This game involves a lot of people in each team. One team consists of 5 persons or more. One team competed with other teams that have been set by the race committee. Two teams stand opposite direction by holding the ropes. In the middle of the arena is limited by the borders. Each team tried hard draw rope to the opposite team over the line delimiter. The team crossed the line, it was declared lost.
Tactics of the game lies in the placement of players, tensile strength and defense on the ground footstool. In general, the player with the greatest strength was placed at the end of the rope, to hold the rope at last, or stomping on the withdrawal.



Makan Kerupuk - Eating Crackers
The race committee will hang in a long string of crackers. The challenge of this race is, participants are not allowed to use the hand - in eating crackers, participants are only allowed to use their mouth. Who is the fastest to spend a cracker they are the winner.



Balap Karung - Sack Race
Participants put their feet into a sack. When the whistle sounded the game, they race by jumping - jumping up to the finish. This game is very exciting. While many participants fall, often inviting audience laughter.



Perang Bantal - Pillow Fight
Two participants sitting on a large tree trunk. Under the tree trunks laid a mattress, or well water .. If using water, the race usually held in a river or pond. Rules of the game is hitting other participants with participants pillows and vice versa. Action at this pillow will expire if one of the participants fell splashed into the water. The winner is the participant who survive on tree trunks.



Lari Kelereng - Run with Marbel
How to play: participants walked faster and flanking spoon in his mouth that contains a marble. Participants tried to keep the marbles did not fall before dropping it in a bucket. Participants have to do that as much as they can. Winners are determined by how many marbles are collected in a bucket.
